Common Problems with Rural Warehouse Expansion:

  • More dangerous roads for families to walk and ride bikes;

  • Increased risk of vehicular accidents including school buses and bus stops;

  • Potential truck traffic increase from over 100 daily now to over 400 daily if approved - this traffic will be on local roads and through local communities;

  • Increased air and noise pollution from traveling and idling trucks;

  • Decreased property values near warehouse and truck routes;

  • Decreased lifespan of local roads;

  • Increased crime;

  • Decrease in prime farm land/open space.

MISLEADING INFORMATION

At Planning and Zoning Board meetings on 2/23/22 and 3/23/22, for Lineage Cold Storage at 29 Vestry Road these statements were made:

  • "Traffic study was not necessary because truck traffic would only increase by 10 truck trips per day."

    Fact: Current average = 120 trucks per day. (A checklist for ordinances on any major site project requires a traffic study.)

  • "There would only be 24 employees."

    Fact: Current average = 64 cars in the parking lot per day.

  • "Operating hours: 8AM to 5PM"

    Fact: Posted hours upon opening = 7 AM to 6 PM. Trucks are at the facility loading out of state produce/goods as late as 10 PM.

How this Affects You

While the warehouse expansion is proposed in South Harrison, the site is SIX MILES from any major highways, meaning the six mile truck routes will affect those in Mullica Hill, Woodstown, Pilesgrove, Logan and other surrounding towns.

Warehouses are taking over our communities. We must stand together and save our communities and environment.
As of now, a proposed warehouse located on Vestry Road in South Harrison, directly adjacent to residential homes, zoned agricultural/rural, NOT industrial. This NEEDS to be stopped. Warehouses will bring thousands of 18 wheeler tractor-trailer trucks to our rural and residential roads, increase significant environmental, health and traffic threats. This project's adverse side effects include, but are not limited to, increased noise pollution, increased air pollution (significantly affecting children’s lung development), increased VOC emissions, increased light pollution, road-damaging truck traffic, destruction of habitat for sensitive species, and much more.
